This activity was given the award “for the cooperation of a group of Rioja Alta wineries, located in an iconic district full of history, in organising an event of global scope that combines tradition, premium wine tasting, the cuisine of renowned chefs, unique proposals in each winery and a festive and playful atmosphere around wine culture.”
The Master of Wine Sarah Jane Evans includes David González, along with Juan Antonio Leza, both of whom are at the helm of the GÓMEZ CRUZADO winery, among her selection of ten Rioja producers who "write their own rules", in an article published in DECANTER portraying "the most influential free spirits" in this denomination of origin. Evans highlights the rapid transformation achieved by David González and his viticulture partner Juan Antonio Leza, both of whom direct GÓMEZ CRUZADO, the boutique winery of the Barrio de la Estación.
GÓMEZ CRUZADO has unveiled the 2015 vintage of MONTES OBARENES SELECCIÓN TERROIR, a fine example of Rioja’s great white wines. From an early and warm vintage, this wine boasts freshness instilled in it by its geographical origin: a cold area in the Northwest corner of Rioja DOCa that tests the limits of grape-growing. MONTES OBARENES SELECCIÓN TERROIR 2015 faithfully harnesses Rioja’s native varieties to transmit a style of wine with typicity and rooted in its origins. Viura is the dominant variety in a blend with white Tempranillo (25%).
