Haro, 20 November 2014 – Verema - a website dedicated to rating and recommending wine and other Spanish food and alcohol products is the largest of its kind in the Spanish-speaking world has nominated Gómez Cruzado as the "Best Winery of the Year" for the 2014 edition of their awards. The winner will be announced during the closing ceremonies of the Verema Experience in Valencia on 21 February 2015. The winner is determined by on-line votes cast by users and collected on Verema's website ( until 18 January.

The list of candidates was put together by Verema’s editorial staff, along with some regular forum contributors. The following criteria were considered: the wine's presence on the market, the number of comments the wine received on, and the average rating from wine tastings during the last twelve months.

The nomination of Gómez Cruzado serves as recognition of this winery’s history, which dates back over a century in the Barrio de la Estación in Haro. Founded in 1886, Gómez Cruzado is the smallest winery located in this privileged and historic area. In recently renovated facilities, science and technical knowledge work with precision to create well-defined wines suitable for contemporary times without renouncing the traditional Rioja style - the "fine wine" style of Haro.

Fines wines with typicity
Founded in 1886, Gómez Cruzado is the boutique winery of the Barrio de la Estación in Haro. The team at this winery looks after every last detail and the typicity of the area's fine wines, while at the same time exploring the expressions of their 50 hectares of vineyards located across diverse environments: Garnacha in the Alto Najerilla - near the Sierra de la Demanda; and Tempranillo in the heart of Rioja Alta (the triangle formed by Uruñuela, Torremontablo and Cenicero) as well as the mythical foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria, including Rioja Alavesa and Sonsierra.

Some of these vineyards are located in the coldest areas of Rioja, which leads to wines with great acidity and freshness, with more finesse than power. Freshness, respect for the fruit, subtlety, elegance, balance and typicity are words frequently used to describe the Gómez Cruzado collection.
