Haro, 10 January 2016.- Verema - a website dedicated to rating and recommending wine, the largest of its kind in the Spanish-speaking world- has nominated Gómez Cruzado as the 'Winery with best trajectory in recent years' for the 2015 edition of its awards. The winner will be announced during the closing ceremonies of the Verema Experience in Valencia on 20 February 2016. The winner is determined by on-line votes cast by users and collected on Verema's website until 24 January.

The list of candidates was put together by Verema’s editorial staff, along with some regular forum contributors. The following criteria were considered: the wine's presence on the market, the number of comments the wine received on, and the average rating from wine tastings during the last twelve months.

The nomination of Gómez Cruzado serves as recognition of the new phase of this century-old cellar, the boutique winery of the Barrio de la Estación in Haro –founded in 1886- helmed since 2013 by David González and Juan Antonio Leza, two young winemakers and viticulture technicians, consultants of the house since 2008. In this period of time, the duo of grape growers have redefined the Gómez Cruzado’s collection of wines, remaining faithful to its founding principles of creating fine Rioja wines, while at the same time exploring the expressions of the varied vineyards from different plots of the DOCa. Rioja.

This project is rooted in the landscape and peasantry of these virtuous region. The reds Pancrudo, from Badarán, and Cerro Las Cuevas, from Leza –recently released to market- and the white Montes Obarenes from Haro –which will see the light this spring- are the representatives of this collection.
