The Drink Business Awards for Gómez Cruzado

The Drink Business names Gómez Cruzado Blanco, Vendimia Seleccionada, and Reserva as Rioja Masters 2014

28 of December of 2014

Haro, December 2014 - The specialized British publication The Drink Business has acknowledged the hard work in Rioja as a winemaking region, and at Gómez Cruzado as a winery in their competition ‘Rioja Masters 2014’, to which over a hundred wines applied. This century-old winery in the Barrio de la Estación in Haro received recognition for all three wines it presented to the jury: Gómez Cruzado Vendimia Seleccionada was awarded a silver medal in the category of signature wine, while Gómez Cruzado Blanco and Gómez Cruzado Reserva both received a bronze medal in their respective categories of young wine and reserva.

Such recognition takes on even greater significance if we recall that the United Kingdom is the foremost importer of Rioja's exports in the world. The magazine explains, "[t]he success of Rioja on the British market can be explained by the fact that British consumers trust in the style they have come to expect from Rioja, while also appreciating the diversity this region has to offer, which is above and beyond that of most other regions around the world ". The Drink Business also commends Rioja wines' excellent value for money, which guarantees their presence on wine lists. The tasting panel included nine representatives from the British wine sector with diverse credentials: some sommeliers, other buyers for importers and distribution chains, and two Masters of Wine - Hugo Rose and Simon Field.

Fines wines with typicity
Gómez Cruzado is a century-old winery in the Barrio de la Estación in Haro. Founded in 1886, it is the smallest winery in this privileged and historic location. In their recently renovated facilities, science and technical knowledge work with precision to create well-defined wines suitable for contemporary times without renouncing the traditional Rioja style - the "fine wine" style of Haro. Freshness, respect for the fruit, subtlety, elegance, balance and typicity are words frequently used to describe the Gómez Cruzado collection.
