The Wall Street Journal Wine Club highlights Gómez Cruzado Blanco 2013

As a resurgence of the whites of Rioja

Haro, 12 February 2015 - The wine club of the prestigious American publication Wall Street Journal highlighted Gómez Cruzado Blanco 2013 as “a great example of the resurgence of white Rioja wines”, describing it as “a really good wine”. The Journal's tasting notes cite critic Hugh Johnson who explains this resurgence: "Whites are looking up, with serious Burgundy-style oak treatment and much improved vineyard work".

According the Journal, Gómez Cruzado Blanco 2013 "strikes the perfect balance between citrus freshness and fuller, creamy oak flavors. It’s a style that’s very food friendly, and goes especially well with appetizers like fine cured ham or hard cheeses. Recommended main courses are roast poultry or pork, or a rich, saffron-infused fish stew”.

The philosophy of Gómez Cruzado, a century-old winery in the Barrio de la Estación in Haro, for this wine is "create a quality white Rioja following traditional practices and using the traditional variety - Viura – that combines freshness and complexity".

Fine wines with typicity

Gómez Cruzado is a century-old winery in the Barrio de la Estación in Haro. Founded in 1886, it is the smallest winery in this privileged and historic location. In their recently renovated facilities, science and technical knowledge work with precision to create well-defined wines suitable for contemporary times without renouncing the traditional Rioja style - the "fine wines" of Haro. Freshness, respect for the fruit, subtlety, elegance, balance and typicity are words frequently used to describe the Gómez Cruzado collection.
