Haro, 30 November 2016 – The 2017 issue of the WINE GUIDE CONDÉ NAST TRAVELER includes the GÓMEZ CRUZADO winery in Haro’s BARRIO DE LA ESTACIÓN among its recommended wine hot spots to visit. This tour of the best wine culture destinations in Spain has been put together by journalists Federico Oldenburg and Raquel Pardo, and is published in this guide book that represents “a wide open door to wine tourism”, as sommelier Josep Roca explains in the prologue.

Oldenburg and Pardo commend this new era at GÓMEZ CRUZADO: a century-old winery that "is working with a clear direction and focused on quality, with traditional wines on one hand, and other clean and sincere wines that highlight terroir and are deeply rooted to their landscapes”. The guide concludes that this winery definitely “deserved to be visited”, especially now as it is revitalized by two young wine-maker oenologists, David González and Juan Antonio Leza.

CONDÉ NAST TRAVELER tasted three wines from GÓMEZ CRUZADO: HONORABLE 2011 – “a historic expression from this winery that is reliving its glory days”, PANCRUDO 2013 – “Garnacha in its most brilliant expression”, and CERRO LAS CUEVAS 2012 – “a wonderful example of a contemporary Rioja”.

GÓMEZ CRUZADO is then commended for its wine tourism experiences that combine viticulture landscapes, history and culture, while attending to every last detail. GÓMEZ CRUZADO obtained the 'Q for tourism quality' in July 2015 and is the sixth winery in Rioja to receive this certificate, and will now be included in the list of 31 Spanish wineries that boast this seal.

In addition to the 'Q for tourism quality', GÓMEZ CRUZADO also received the TripAdvisor 'Certificate of Excellence' in May 2015. This award recognizes the winery´s top-quality hospitality based on opinions submitted by travellers using this website, which is the most widely used travel website in the world. By way of these two certificates, GÓMEZ CRUZADO is commended for its wine tourism experiences that combine viticulture landscapes, history and culture, while attending to every last detail.

New times at a century-old winery

GÓMEZ CRUZADO is the smallest winery in the privileged and historic location of the BARRIO DE LA ESTACIÓN in Haro. In their recently renovated facilities, science and technical knowledge work with precision to create well-defined wines suitable for contemporary times without renouncing the traditional Rioja style. Today, GÓMEZ CRUZADO is run by the duo of David González and Juan Antonio Leza: two young Riojan oenologists and viticulture technicians with over a decade of experience as consultants for major projects in various wine-making regions. David and Juan Antonio began to work on this project in 2008 as consultants, and today it is their foremost passion.
