GÓMEZ CRUZADO AT ALIMENTARIA WITH NEW VINTAGES OF ITS FINE WINES AND TERROIR SELECTION

The winery will share its collection of wines at stand 401-9 and will participate in the unprecedented Barrio de la Estación tasting: seven visions of the future with Pedro Ballesteros MW

12 of April of 2018

The GÓMEZ CRUZADO winery located in Haro’s BARRIO DE LA ESTACIÓN will travel to Barcelona for ALIMENTARIA April 16th - 19th to present the new vintages of its family of fine wines and its Terroir Selection. Both collections attest to the revitalization of this hundred-year-old project, led by winemaker - viticulture engineers David González and Juan Antonio Leza who began collaborating with the winery in 2008 and then took the reins in 2013.

GÓMEZ CRUZADO will have its own stand in the INTERVIN HALL of ALIMENTARIA, inside the exhibition space (401-9) corresponding to La Rioja’s regional government. Nearly 4,000 businesses from 65 countries gather at Alimentaria, where more than 140,000 visitors are expected this year.

Annual production at GÓMEZ CRUZADO does not exceed 250,000 bottles, making it the boutique winery of the BARRIO DE LA ESTACIÓN, and the smallest in this enclave. GÓMEZ CRUZADO remains faithful to Haro’s heritage of fine wines with a primary collection of wines with long refining periods in the winery: steeped in the typicity of cold Rioja and crafted to turn into noble wines over time in the bottle. This group includes GÓMEZ CRUZADO WHITE 2nd YEAR, VENDIMIA SELECCIONADA, CRIANZA, RESERVA, HONORABLE and GRAN RESERVA. At the same time, GÓMEZ CRUZADO explores the diversity of the valley that is La Rioja through a limited edition of wines called TERROIR SELECTION, which reflects the winery’s desire to convey the expressions of unique plots, the microcosms within the region. PANCRUDO, CERRO LAS CUEVAS and MONTES OBARENES serve as representatives and reflections of these landscapes.

GÓMEZ CRUZADO has received attention and recognition from wine critics such as Luis Gutiérrez, the Spanish wine taster for ROBERT PARKER 'WINE ADVOCATE'. In his recently published report on Rioja, Gutiérrez highlights the rebirth of GÓMEZ CRUZADO as "one of the most exciting developments in recent years". Gutiérrez notes that “GÓMEZ CRUZADO has shown the most progress in its wines out of all the wineries in the famous BARRIO DE LA ESTACIÓN in Haro”.

Gómez Cruzado at Vinorum Think

On Tuesday April 17th at 12.30 pm at VINORUM THINK in INTERVIN, GÓMEZ CRUZADO will participate in the unprecedented BARRIO DE LA ESTACIÓN Tasting: Seven Visions of the Future, directed by MASTER OF WINE Pedro Ballesteros. Neighboring wineries from this historical enclave of Haro - López de Heredia, CVNE, La Rioja Alta S.A., Viña Pomal Bodegas Bilbaínas, Muga and Roda will also participate. "Let's take a look at the future of the BARRIO DE LA ESTACIÓN", suggests Ballesteros. "The Barrio was founded on impressive technical innovations (...). The wineries in the Barrio are very aware of this and continue to formulate new visions for the future, which will bring excellence to new and different goals". The tasting will cover "visions and opinions, including well-kept secrets and well-known glories," explains the MASTER OF WINE, Pedro Ballesteros.

What’s more, GÓMEZ CRUZADO will also participate in the OPEN TASTING at VINORUM THINK with its HONORABLE 2014, the winery’s oldest and most legendary wine which boasts over a century of history. This wine is made only from the best vintages of old vineyards on the slopes of the Sierra Cantabria, between Labastida and Lanciego. It represents the maximum expression of the exceptional character of the grapes from Rioja’s so-called 'Golden Mile'.
