Gómez Cruzado hosts level 2 and level 3 of Wine&Spirits Education Trust courses in 2019

Vintage Class is the provider of the courses, with Diego Bonnel and Frank Smulders MW as teachers of the Advanced Level 3

The Gómez Cruzado Winery in Haro’s Barrio de la Estación will once again host the internationally renowned wine education courses of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET). Vintage Class, the authorized provider of WSET courses in Spain, returns to Haro to offer courses of different levels in English and Spanish in January, February, March, May and June of 2019. Dutch Master of Wine (MW) Frank Smulders and Diego Bonnel, who holds the WSET Diploma – a stepping stone prior to becoming a Master of Wine – will teach the Advanced Level 3 course (WSET 3) in English and Spanish, respectively.

The courses deal with topics of viticulture and oenology, while also covering the world's foremost wine regions, grape varieties, the styles of wine that define different production areas, as well as other matters such as pairing and serving.

Diego Bonnel will teach WSET Advanced Level 3 in Spanish in 2019 fom Friday January 18th to Tuesday January 22ndDiego Bonnel has earned the WSET Diploma and is currently preparing to become a Master of Wine. He is a founder and the general manager of Vinexplora, a strategy consulting firm in the wine sector offering support for commercial and operational activities, and marketing and brand management as well. Bonnel boasts a wealth of experience working with importers and distributors to build wine portfolios. He has been an instructor at the IE Business School, EAE Business School and the ISEAD Online Business School, as well as at various regional Chambers of Commerce. He has collaborated with several designations of origin developing strategic regional projects. He has also designed wine lists for restaurants. He has also been a contributing author for publications such as Gilbert & Gaillard Magazine, Harper's London,and Fine Wine & Liquor.

Vintage Class has also arranged for an Advanced Level 3 course to be taught in English by Master of Wine Frank Smulders in June 2019 from Tuesday 11th to Saturday 15th.

The advanced level instructor, Master of Wine Frank Smulder, boasts 30 years of experience in the international wine business and has represented wineries on the international market as well. Smulders also works as a consultant and is a WSET instructor for several different levels in various European countries. He has managed the five-star wine cellar Hotel Residenz Palais Coburg in Vienna, which received the honor of 'World’s Best Wine List' in 2014 from the magazine 'The World of Fine Wines'.

Advanced Level 3 is designed for professionals working in the wine industry and for wine enthusiasts as well. This course is intended for anyone who wishes to delve deeper into the world of wines and gain a detailed understanding of viticulture and winemaking.

Jeni Wilson, director of Vintage Class, will impart the Intermediate Level 2 course in Spanish on March 25th and March 26th and May 20th and 21st; and in English on February 15th and 16th

Jeni Wilson heads the English center Vintage Class, located in Aranda de Duero, specialized in the world of wine. A native of Australia and Scotland, she has more than 20 years of teaching experience in Mexico, Thailand, Australia, Cambridge (UK) and Spain.

Chosen by an illustrious panel of judges, "The Future 50" will recognise 50 of the global industry’s up-and-coming talent at a range of levels from all reaches of the trade. Nominations are due to open in February with winners announced ahead of IWSC’s annual banquet in November 2019.
