Gran Reserva

VINEYARDS: 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha, bush-trained vines over 60 years old. Tempranillo from Sierra Cantabria and Garnacha from Badarán.
HARVEST: Grapes are hand-picked in 200 kg crates, bunch selection at winery.
WINEMAKING: 4 days pre-fermentation cold maceration, daily pumping and delestage during temperature-controlled fermentation. Aged in new French and American oak barrels for 24 months. Further ageing in bottle for three years.
SOIL: Sierra Cantabria: clay lime soils, whitish color, very basic and poor with slabs of calcareous rock deep underground. Badarán: vineyards grown on slopes of red ferrous-clay soil.
TASTING NOTES: Exudes a clean and bright ruby-red color. Its complex nose is characteristic of Haro's fine wines and has nuances reflecting the extended ageing period in barrel and bottle. The tertiary aromas dominate, including orange peel, candied fruit and cigar box. Flavorful in the mouth with tension and acidity that keep this wine alive and well for many years. Spicy and fruity notes with an elegant and long-lasting finish. This wine is only made during those years that produce grapes of exceptional quality.
